Bulk Fuel Terminal Vertical Turbine Fire Water Pump
OBJECTIVES
To overhaul a duplex stainless steel vertical turbine fire water pump from a bulk fuel terminal.
CHALLENGES
The outage window was reduced to 2 weeks due to an incoming shipment of product where availability of the fire pump was necessary.
The pump has been in service for 12 years and never been removed for any maintenance.
A 150T crane was required to lift the pump off the jetty that it is installed on, followed by a 2 crane lift to reposition horizontally on a truck for transport.
SOLUTIONS
Specialised Seals and Flow Solutions were engaged during the planning phase to project manage the job from start to finish. We were able to identify all of the critical spares required as a minimum for the overhaul well in advance of the job taking place.
Key contractors were identified and assigned to assist with performing the work required, under the supervision and guidance of the Specialised Seals and Flow Solutions team.
