OBJECTIVES

To overhaul a duplex stainless steel vertical turbine fire water pump from a bulk fuel terminal.

CHALLENGES

• The outage window was reduced to 2 weeks due to an incoming shipment of product where availability of the fire pump was necessary.

• The pump has been in service for 12 years and never been removed for any maintenance.

• A 150T crane was required to lift the pump off the jetty that it is installed on, followed by a 2 crane lift to reposition horizontally on a truck for transport.

SOLUTIONS

• Specialised Flow Solutions were engaged during the planning phase to project manage the job from start to finish. We were able to identify all of the critical spares required as a minimum for the overhaul well in advance of the job taking place.

• Key contractors were identified and assigned to assist with performing the work required, under the supervision and guidance of the Specialised Seals and Flow Solutions team.
